Filipe the Dinosaur

Social Media, Storytelling, Photography

Filipe is a dinosaur. He's hell bent on world domination and finding love. From the end of 2011 to 2014, Filipe blogged, poked and messaged across the internet. Filipe quickly became a sensation among my friends for his quirky antics and rambunctious attitude, as well as his very skewed world view. He also has a love of costumes and hats.

Sometimes Filipe just wants to be Filip.

An Origin Story

2011 was an incredibly tough year for me. By the end, I found a need for full release. I found Filipe at a school party (he was covered in frosting, it was a recuse). Organically, I began telling the story of Filipe through low-quality iPhone images, in order to create and enjoy a new story outside of the stress I was facing.

Filipe's first three photos were posted to my Facebook.

Much of Filipe's humor comes through in the captions and hashtags in his posts, as well as on going running gags. Posts are often written in third person, where I play a role in attempting to quell Filipe.

Filipe found a tree he can actually rip out of the ground! Sam removed him quickly from the Bonsai stand. Filipe spent the day crying over his thwarted mayhem.

Sam came home to Filipe performing Aztec rituals. She should probably not leave him alone.

Interacting with the Public

Filipe quickly won over hearts wherever we went. More and more the dinosaur was let in on dangerous and irresponsible behavior by other adults.

Filipe has had enough and came to work. He already has Gaby eating out of his little tiny hands.

Filipe also adores answering questions and knocking his followers down a peg.
